The opportunity

We’re now looking for a Software Engineer to join our Australia Production Support team. Your primary focus will be supporting our live client environments, investigating complex technical issues, performing root cause analysis, and working closely with development teams to drive resolution. You'll play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of GBST's wealth management platforms.

Your day-to-day may include:

Investigating and resolving complex production incidents across client environments.
Performing root cause analysis and providing detailed technical findings to development teams.
Analysing application, infrastructure and integration logs to identify system issues and performance bottlenecks.
Supporting software deployments, upgrades and client testing activities, including UAT.
Collaborating with developers, business analysts and client stakeholders to deliver timely solutions.
Contributing to ongoing improvements in system reliability, monitoring and support processes.
Participating in incident response and out-of-hours support activities when required.

What You'll Bring

You'll ideally hold a relevant technical qualification and have experience supporting enterprise applications in a production environment. Success in this role requires strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Essential Experience

Experience supporting business-critical applications within a production support, application support or software engineering environment.
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Experience working with Java-based enterprise applications.
Strong SQL skills, including data analysis, reporting and data correction scripting.
Experience reviewing application logs and diagnosing application or integration issues.
Understanding of APIs, web services and system integrations.
Experience working with cloud-based environments, preferably AWS.
Excellent communication skills and experience working directly with clients and stakeholders.

Technical Skills

Experience with some or all of the following technologies will be highly regarded:

AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, Lambda and AWS MQ.
Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot and Hibernate.
SOAP and REST web services using XML and JSON.
JBoss and WebSphere application servers.
SQL Server and stored procedures.
Docker and Kubernetes.
CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
Monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana and Prometheus.
Messaging technologies including RabbitMQ and AMQP.
Knowledge of FIX protocol and financial markets or trading platforms.
